a favicon is the little picture that goes on the line at the top of your browser window



the default Blogger icon is a white B on an orange background
but
you can change this ! .... it is the first thing in the Layout section

 if you have a load of Blogger sites , all with the identical Blogger icon you might want one which is more specific to the subject of the site

so - suppose you have a website or blog ... about oak trees... and why would you not ?



do a Google image search for " icon oak leaf " or something like that

Find one you like - and that is SQUARE ( essential for Blogger ) ...

...this one is nice

 right click on it - chose Save As to download it to your computer

then on the Layout page where you edit the Favicon
..... and WHY is an icon called Favicon ?  ... if there is any chance that you really want to know , read HERE . Otherwise , it just IS.

Find the file on your computer ... which will be easier if you have made a special folder for the pictures that will go on the website ... choose it ...  and upload the oakleaf

then ... if is not rejected for being Unsquare , or too large a file ....

your favicon will have changed and become a leaf

... so now ... press the Save Arrangement button at the top right hand side of the page

and your icon of your site should now be a leaf ...




unlike the icon of this site you are looking at ...for which I chose a cardboard box

or possibly this one , I can't remember ....
